2017 has been a great year and as usual, there have been a lot of great things to look forward to!
For the movie lovers, there are an awful number of Hollywood sequels in and out of the kitchen in 2017.
Just do a search on IMDB and you will be surprised by the number of sequels on their way this year, some of which you are not even aware of. Well, the list is long but we have scraped through and compiled some of the top movie sequels that you just can’t afford to miss.
Prison Break: April 2017
This one has got to be the first one in this list. Well, this is the year that the popular TV show prison break made that long-awaited comeback, eight years after we bid farewell, apparently for good, to Michael Scofield. Judging by the way the trailers were already setting social media networks ablaze, many were really salivating for new twists in a story that premiered on April 4th this year. And, it surely didn’t disappoint. Will prison break season 6 happen? Well, let’s cross our fingers and wait!
Fast 8: April 14
One can argue that there has been probably no other movie franchise that has defied expectations like the Fast and Furious. It all started out as a remake of Point Break and after seven entries to the series, we just can’t get enough of this amazing piece. Well, it’s time to buckle up as Vin Diesel, The Rock and the crew are back with Fast 8. It is still a classic, go check it out
Transformers-The Last Knight: June 23
It is almost 10 years since the first Transformers movie made its way into the theaters and many of us still enjoy that movie. The sequels since then have not lived up to the billing but the Last Knight is promising to shape up the narrative and get the Franchise back on track. The marketing campaign has been very encouraging not to mention that there are some new faces to spice up things. Talk of the likes of Anthony Hopkins, Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson who should surely fire back the movie to the top of the formidable lineup of tentpole sci-fi flicks this year.
Blade Runner 2: October 6
Talking of the mouthwatering sci-fi lineup in 2017, we will finally be getting a sequel to the 1982’s iconic sci-fi masterpiece, Blade Runner. Sadly, Ridley Scott will not be the director this time round but there is no better to replace him than Sicario helmer Denis Villeneuve. If you not yet convinced then you should when you find out that he will be working alongside Roger Deakins, arguably the best cinematographer in the game at the moment. Of course, Harrison Ford will be returning and he will be joined by Barkhad Abdi, Dave Bautista, Ryan Gosling and Robin Wright. 35 years is indeed a long time to wait but as they say, better late than never!
Star Wars-Episode VIII: December 15
This list will not be complete without a mention of Star Wars. Rian Johnson will be taking the directing duties on this one and we all know what he is capable thanks to his recent sci-fi masterpiece, Looper. So, you want to find out who Rey’s parents are? Perhaps you want to know who Snoke really is? Regardless of all the questions you might have, they will be answered starting December the 15th.
This year is certainly full of sequels for all the movie lovers around the world. It’s just a matter of time before we see if the sequels turn out to be hits or not.
